Rakennuttajatoimisto HTJ Ltd has been appointed as an official BREEAM-certifier

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) is a British classification method for green buildings. The method has been created and it is developed by a British real estate research organisation. BREEAM gives guide lines for building design, construction as well as for use of the buildings. BREEAM takes into consideration environmental issues from leadership’s, energy and water consumption’s, used material’s, land use’s and traffic’s point of view. For all these topics points are given, based on which the building it self will be categorized in a four point scale and the BREEAM rating granted.

The cerfication has been started already in 1990, after which over a million buildings globally have been registered and for more than 200 000 buildings received the environmental certificate. When considering the number of certified buildings, BREEAM is clearly the biggest classification system of green buildings.

Rakennuttajatoimisto HTJ Ltd wants to be a part of sustainable development and has in January 2011 joined the Finnish Green Building Council (FIGBC). BRE Global has granted M.Sc. (Civ. Eng.), Mr Tuomo Lindstedt the Qualification of BREEAM International Assessor in November 2011. With this qualification also Rakennuttajatoimisto HTJ Ltd has the right to cerify international BREEAAM projects.
